Delete your account

How to delete your MatchUp account and what happens to your data.

Directly in the app

  1. Open MatchUp and go to “Edit profile”: on Home, tap your profile photo at the top (or “Preview your profile”, then “Edit profile”).
  2. Tap “Account” at the bottom, then “Delete account”.
  3. Type DELETE to confirm (LÖSCHEN if the app is in German) and tap “Delete for good”. Your account is deleted at once and you are signed out.

Or by email

If you can no longer open the app, email office@matchupsports.app and ask for deletion, ideally from the email address you use for MatchUp, so that we can find your account. We process the request within one month.

Request deletion

Deleted immediately

  • Your account with your sign-in (email address, password, link to Google or Apple); for Apple, we tell Apple that MatchUp no longer has access
  • Profile, sports, swipes, likes, matches, friendships, ratings, blocks, reports against you, open requests, your ranked ratings and your teams
  • Everything without its own period, for example meetings, multiplayer games and your ranked history
  • Push tokens, your notification settings and the notifications sent to you
  • Your profile photos go into the deletion queue at once and are removed from storage on the next run; the deletion run takes place every hour

What stays

  • Your messages show “Deleted user” and stay with your chat partners until the chat is deleted under the periods in the privacy policy; they can still read a chat with you for 30 days, then we delete it
  • Ranked results stay without any link to you, so your opponents keep their rating
  • Reports you made and in-app events stay without any link to your account (events up to 13 months, decided reports up to 12 months after the decision)
  • Notifications others received about you stay with them for at most 90 days
  • A chess board photo you took stays with the game, without any link to you, until it is deleted after 30 days (if the result is disputed, once our team has decided)
  • Sentry deletes error reports automatically after 90 days at the latest; they contain no name, email or IP address
  • If it was an account moved from MatchUp V1, we keep only its identifier until the move is closed (expected 30 days after 27 October 2026), so that it is not created again
